Beach Kindy at Redhead Community Preschool
At Redhead Community Preschool, we are fortunate to be just a five-minute walk from the beach. This close connection to our local environment allows us to run Beach Kindy every fortnight, giving children regular opportunities to learn, play, and grow by the seaside.
Beach Kindy was developed in consultation with children, families, and educators, ensuring it reflects the values, needs, and identity of our Redhead community.
Through Beach Kindy, children:
Build physical skills and confidence by running, climbing, digging, balancing in a natural environment and by engaging in risky play opportunities.
Develop social and emotional resilience as they work together, share discoveries, and experience the calming rhythm of the ocean.
Expand cognitive and creative thinking through open-ended exploration, problem-solving, and imaginative play with natural materials.
Foster environmental awareness by learning about coastal ecosystems and the importance of caring for our local beach and marine life.
Beach Kindy reflects the outdoor culture of our community and strengthens children’s sense of belonging, identity, and respect for nature. It’s a unique part of our preschool program that celebrates our special place in Redhead and the learning opportunities right at our doorstep.
